At The Catholic High School we believe that educational visits play an important part in the overall development of the student.
These allow them the opportunity to participate in, and benefit from, a range of activities and experiences that serve to extend and consolidate their learning, as well as develop their personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) awareness and understanding.
We aim to provide students with experience of a rich variety of environments which contribute to making learning enjoyable and enabling the children to visit places they might not otherwise see and undertake activities in which they might not otherwise participate.
The majority of our subject areas use educational visits to develop, embed and enrich the classroom based learning.
We provide just under 100 Educational Visits each year including:
Sport and Expeditions
Student retreats – Castlerigg Manor and the Conway Centre,
Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions – Silver to Gold
District Athletics and fixtures with other schools, GCSE/Btec vist to Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Annual Ski – Trip – Italy, France, Half termly Ski Club – Chill Factore and a Bi Annual – expedition – Borneo and for 2017 Costa Rica
Geography - Llandudno, Loggerheads, Electric Mountain and Hilbre Island
History - Berlin, Battlefields, Chester, Imperial War Museum, Blists Hill and Ironbridge
Music – City Jazz – swing band - International performances – France, Italy, Ireland
Art - National Galleries, Tuscany, Paris and Barcelona
English - Theatre trips, Stratford upon Avon
Science - Conferences and workshops with local Colleges, Universities and Industry
Languages – Normandy and Barcelona
Sixth Form – University visits including Cambridge and Oxford in addition to industry led local and national competitions
