Guide Dogs for the Blind

Walk Your Socks Off

Even apart, we are together.

Despite school being closed, and being unable to spend time together, we are still a community and can come together to do something positive for a really worthwhile cause. With this in mind we have signed up to join the Guide Dogs for the Blind Walk Your Socks Off fundraising activity. Everybody can help out with this one. We will be doing our walk for seven days, the last week of this half-term, Monday 18th – Sunday 24th May.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

  1. During the week of the walk, whether you walk at home, around the house, in the garden or in the neighbourhood, send your steps count or distance to Mrs Letissier by email or on Firefly. You can do this on a daily basis so we can do a running total or at the end of the week.
  2. Encourage everyone in the family to get involved with the walking too. We are one community and are doing this together.
  3. Donate to the sponsorship on the Justgiving page

  1. Share the link to your social media pages to encourage your friends and family to donate too.

Let’s see how far we can walk together. Here are some calculations to get you thinking.

One person walks about 3km in half an hour. Walking with a family member for half an hour = 6km Do it every day = 42km

If everyone in a 25 person form group walks for half an hour = 175 km. If they do that every day for a week = 1225

Distances from school to these places:

Liverpool Albert Dock = 25.6km

Parliament Square, London = 265km

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France = 601.5km

Vatican City, Rome, Italy = 1695 km

Statue of Liberty, New York, USA = 5341 km

Beijing, China = 8116 km

Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia = 17,050km
