Feel Good Friday

Dear families.

We are fully aware of the demands that the exam season causes for our students and we are constantly working in school to improve their well-being. However we don’t want to overlook their families either.

Every Friday we will be sending you some helpful links to different sites, videos or agencies that can support you in supporting your children. We will also be putting these on Twitter and our website. Our idea is to promote ‘feel good Friday’ for everyone. We hope you find it useful and would welcome any feedback or ideas about how we can support you through this process too.

Covid - 19

We hope that you are all safe, well and following the advice of the government and medical professionals. This week’s #FeelGoodFriday link is The Coronavirus Helpful Hub. This is a page containing links to a huge amount of valuable resources, including tips on managing your mental health, coping with the huge change that we’re all going through, managing your money, staying connected in an age of social distancing and resources for both parents and children. Lastly it also includes links to accurate, up-to-date information from reliable sources such as the NHS, World Health Organisation and Public Health England, as knowledge really is power. One of the quotes on the website seems to be a particularly important reminder this week: “every storm cloud runs out of rain, just like every dark night turns into day.” Stay safe and God bless – together we will get through this.

We hope that you are all safe and well; it’s easy to spend time thinking about all of the things that we can’t do right now, and this can really get us down. However scientific research has shown that people who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they're thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. This doesn’t need to be big occasions like a promotion at work or a great holiday, the biggest effect was seen when people experience regular gratitude for “little” things like a tasty meal or sunny weather. This week’s #FeelGoodFriday links are to 13 practical activities you can do as a family to practice gratitude and 8 tips on how to practice gratitude in everyday life:  Stay safe and God bless – together we will get through this.
