The school runs two types of Parents Information Evenings.
The traditional subject based parents evenings run once per year for each year group, and are scheduled in a way that tries to make the most impact on students’ progress. For example, Year 7 parents are invited into school towards the end of the first term for a ‘progress check’ and the formal parents evening is held later in the school year so that the children have had the opportunity to really settle in and show what they can do. The Year 9 parents evening is held in January so that parents have a clear idea about which subjects their sons and daughters are flourishing in ahead of the options evening where they select the GCSE subjects as they progress in to year 10.
For students in examination years we look at the two evenings (Year 10 and Year11, and then Year 12 and 13) and time these to keep parents up to date with any issues in the examination courses.
Subject based parents evenings run from 4pm to 7pm.
In addition there are a number of information evenings held at different times of the school year which aim to provide key information in a timely manner. There are information evenings at the start of Year 11 and Year 12 so that parents can be clear about what is needed in the final year of the GCSE courses, and also as students start their A levels. Options evenings are held for Year 9 and Year 11 early in the Easter Term, and the school Open Evening is held during the second half of the summer term.
Start times vary for these information evenings, but we will always give you plenty of notice.
Parents are welcome to contact the school at any time of the year, either to discuss student progress, or to ask other questions. There is no need to wait for either a parents’ evening or an information evening. Please feel free to email Mr Murray for any further information
Please see the School Calendar for all parents evenings times and dates.
